Beaches within driving distance of Lymington
Owning a car isn’t always down to commuting to and from the workplace or doing the school run – quite often we use our cars to enjoy days out and explore new areas.
With this in mind, we have written a guide to beaches within driving distance of our Hyundai dealership here in Lymington, so you can enjoy a fun-filled day out with your new car.
Milford on Sea
Milford on Sea beach offers stunning views out to the Isle of Wight and is located close to the bustling town where you will find a wide range of shops, cafes, and restaurants.
You can park directly on the promenade at Hurst Road East car park, where there are ample spaces available. If these car parks are full, there are several others close by, including Hurst Road West car park and The Lighthouse car park.
Between the car park and the beach, you have a long promenade that you can take a stroll down and enjoy the spectacular views out to sea.
Milford on Sea beach is popular with water sports enthusiasts who are often seen enjoying activities such as paddleboarding and kayaking.

Barton on Sea Beach
Barton on Sea beach is surrounded by a rugged coastline so perfect if you enjoy walking and want to explore the area better.
The access down to the beach from the main road is on a slight slope, but wheelchairs should cope just fine as the paths are paved. Once you’ve reached the beach huts, the pathways are a bit rougher but still flat so walking alone is manageable.
From here, there are various points where you can access the beach itself, which, for the most part, is rocky rather than sandy.
There are several car parks located close to the beach access path, with Marine Drive East car park being the closest. There are also no parking restrictions on the side of Marine Drive East, so you shouldn’t struggle to find a space.

Highcliffe Beach is perfect for those who want a quieter option, perhaps for a picnic or a short dog walk.

There are plenty of parking options so you can get close to the beach, making taking your equipment down much easier.
There is a pay and display car park that is level with the beach so offers convenient wheelchair and pushchair access.
The sea is often packed with swimmers and paddlers in the Summer months as the beach is patrolled by a lifeguard between July and early September.
For those who don’t want to stay sitting on the beach, there’s a long promenade that is completely paved, so suitable for all abilities as well as those with pushchairs.
There are also public toilets located just off the beach next to the Noisy Lobster Deli.

There’s plenty of space to pitch your deckchair and have a picnic whilst the kids paddle in the sea. Lifeguards do patrol Southbourne Beach, but only between the end of May and early September.
Southbourne Beach has been awarded a Blue Flag, so you can be sure that it is clean and safe.
